A volcano is an open mouth to the invisible, a mountain that emits, or once emitted, molten matter. It is a threshold between the surface we inhabit and the burning unknown of the depths. It embodies what rumbles beneath, what remains unseen but deeply felt. It is tension, threshold, a silence charged with possibility. It connects us to the Earth’s primitive forces, to the raw matter of the planet. To observe a volcano is to watch the skin of the world crack open and to feel the haunting beauty of instability. The rising smoke, the porous, weightless stones, the fiery, saturated colours, they seem to belong to another time, another realm. A volcano reminds us that everything can shift in an instant. Like Pompeii, it carries the memory of sudden upheaval. It is catastrophe and rebirth.
